The Eagles Announce ‘Final’ Tour Dates: ‘This Is Our Swan Song’

The Eagles, one of the most successful and longest-running acts in the history of popular music, have announced the first of what they say are their “final” tour dates. After 52 years, more than a thousand concerts and over 150 million albums sold, the group has announced the initial 13 dates of their final farewell tour, beginning on Sept. 7 in New York, with more to be added.

According to the announcement, the Eagles — Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — will perform “as many shows in each market as their audience demands.” The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

Steely Dan, the group’s longtime friends and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, will open the tour, which is presented by Live Nation. Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m. local time.

The initial dates are below; the group’s statement follows in full:

The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed.

But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round. So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up.

Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.

With love and gratitude,

The Eagles

Randy and Don were important in my book. I understand that they all parted ways with Felder at a certain point, but I liked him. Still, Felder was not a founding member, if I understand correctly. I am biased because of a loyal friend who has personal connections to the original band.

Totally different band than in 1972, but that’s when they were the best, IMHO. I like all the other members enough, but my hat is really off to the original band.

Another reason to loath the Eagles: they hired 60 people whose job is to police the internet looking for unlawful use of their music.

You mean the same band that ripped off "Hotel California" from Jethro Tull?

If it was just the Eagles, I’d try to go. With Steely Dan opening now I have to go.

Turn up The Eagles, the neighbors are listening.

That’s cool.

At one show, a stadium, Walsh was playing with them again & his softball team showed up, in uniforms. Backstage passes were handed out to them and they hung around the outdoor, tented cratering area eating our food until the show started. ;O)

Sounds fun. To be honest, I’ve never seen them perform live.

They were excellent. Absolute top shelf musicians. Fantastic vocals. No auto tune. They could do it live, not just in the studio.

They had very good vocal training, as I understand it. Learned perfect harmonies from…others. They practiced till they had it right. Or so I’ve been told.

Thanks. I was around years ago. Came back but I couldn't get the old account functioning again. Sent many emails to reset & finally just re-upped...;O)

Take it easy! This is NOT The Eagles’ final tour says Joe Walsh despite announcement the legendary band will call it quits - and they will keep ‘playing until nobody comes’
