What a crock. Employee helping and gets canned.
Did all this massive stealing start after the Floyd riots?

Just when you think we’ve reached maximum insanity something like this comes along to prove you wrong.

Interesting. The purloiners are not Amish for a change.

It’s because the shoplifters have successfully sued large retailers when hurt or “improperly” arrested. Also, loss prevention officers have been charged with felony illegal imprisonment, even when the shoplifters were caught red handed.

I read that Laundry Detergent is used in some places as a drug currency instead of dollars.

As others have noted, the firing was outrageous. But unless this guy has a contract that says he’s allowed to do what he did, there’s nothing to sue for.

“drug currency instead of dollars”
Correct.
What is interesting about this is it violates all textbook studies of currency—because the weight to value ratio is way too high...
It is a currency of last resort.

The
King Soopers supermarket chain around the Rocky Mountains is a subsidy of the Kroger Company.

Ha, me too. As I noted earlier, without a contract the guy is probably an at-will employee. He can be fired for any reason, or for no reason.
But…if I were him, I might sue for something like emotional distress anyway. Just to annoy the company.

That should be “subsidiary,” not subsidy.

Anarchy is not far down the road. For all of us. It’s already here in many areas of many blue cities.
Logic tells us that things are worse than what we see, because so much of the media establishment is vested in playing down the way things are.

Don’t worry. All you hard-working, play-by-the-rules saps get to pay for this theft through higher prices.

Big markups on laundry soap. Probably selling it to a Mexican grocery store.

So... they fire the guy who can now go out and tell thieves what to steal and where to find it on the shelves?
When the deliveries arrive so they have maximum theft?
Where to pick up convenient "recycling" bags to put their loot in?
When to use the service entrance instead of going through the front doors?
To: ChicagoConservative27
I’m pretty sure the store would have cameras showing the space between the cash registers and the exit to prove shoplifting.
