I used to enjoy listening to Hubby discuss internet failings/blackouts with our internet provider. They’d eventually tell him to contact our computer manufacturer. He’d tell them, “You’re talking to him. Stop reading from your script and connect me to someone who actually knows how this works.” He built all our computers, was versed in troubleshooting and the script readers were clueless.
One of my favorites was when my daughter had her car insurance cut off by GEICO. It was their error. She asked me to call because I can be more of a jerk.
The rep actually suggested I use another insurer.
My daughter called another agent and was told there would be a $1000 fee for lapsing her insurance.
I called GEICO back. Got a supervisor who gave me the same stupid advice.
“I need the name and phone number of your boss’s boss.”
“Sir, I’ll give him a message”
“Nope. I need his name and phone number. Now.”
I eventually got it. Director of something or another.
I said “you have two choices. Insure my daughter today or fed ex me $1000 today. I’m happy with either.
He was furious at his people.
My daughter was insured that day.
