Warned by three different people that she was being scammed, and she still fell for it.
I doubt she is just dumb. These con men prey on people’s fears and they have a way of telling people just what they fear the most. They keep pushing and pushing.
I feel very sorry for the lady. I am acutely aware that we are all being targeted by phishing and other scams on a regular basis and I try to keep my defenses up at all times. I know to call actual institutions for confirmation, rather than accepting at face value any call or text or alert I get. I tripple check.
I also know it is only a matter of time before I am fall for a sophisticated scam as I age. It is scary. I hope I can put it off a long time or just escape the pitfalls altogether. They are extremely aggressive and getting better all the time at sounding convincing. Who knows what angle I am susceptible to? I just don’t know.
I guess, just be skeptical of EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY. “No” should be our only answer, all the time. If something is serious, you are eventually going to get official paperwork and a knock on the door by a human being.
She acted foolish Li.
Foolish is as foolish does.
