Squirrels do the high wire act here too, must be a squirrelly thing.
I and a couple of neighbors were sitting out on the front porch visiting when BOOM, a transformer blew.
A squirrel had caused it and he fricasséed himself, a smoking little piece of fried meat.

Happens in our neighborhood often.. The energy people said all spring and summer especially they have to re-trip the lines. A fairly new neighbor came outside to see why his dogs were barking and saw the electric company man. He yelled to the man most likely your dogs are barking because the squirrel that tripped the line is laying dead in your yard.

Squirrels were not native where I live. Some person thought it would be great to have them so brought them in. They have cost the utility company (and us) millions in repairs from transformers blowing up.
