Fry’s (Kroger) and Safeway both have “digital sale prices” . A regular package of Oreos was on the endcap at Safeway for $5.99 or $2.99 with the Safeway app. For all of Walmart’s evil, at least they are not doing that…yet.

That's because Walmart doesn't do sale pricing. I have apps for all the grocery stores that I go to. It's not that hard to get the digital price. I don't know why people moan about it so much. There have been times where I saved over 50 percent over the regular price on my entire purchase. Older people need to get with it. Get a damn smart phone and download the apps. You can literally cover the cost of a smart phone with the money you save by using these apps.

People moan about it because they don’t want to have to Fumble with a cellular phone in one hand while they’re doing their grocery shopping.

Get a damn smart phone and download the apps.

1. I don't want to have my phone filled with four store apps tracking who knows what.

2. Several times my wife (who is NOT old)found that loading the Fry's digital coupon didn't catch and the wrong price was rung up (the supposed sale price is often off an inflated fake regular price. Those Oreos shouldn't be $5.99 Regular. The Strawberries shouldn't be $4.99 for a container.) If she weren't so alert, she would be over-spending instead of saving. And you cannot argue with a clerk over a digital coupon, so back it goes.

3. Walmart's non-sale prices are sometimes comparable to the other stores. They play games with custom sizes, so they have their own games. Aldi has low prices across the board. Winco and Smart & Final have aggressive pricing with no tracking card needed.

4. The only track phone you could cover with bona fide savings is a cheapy Android phone, and I am not letting Google any more into my life. The cost of the phone does not include the cost of data on the phone, $25/month for the low end (Boost Mobile)

5. Stores used to have sales without Smart Phones. The sales aren't any better, but we have to jump through more hoops.

6. My mother IS old, and on a budget. She also has macular degeneration. No smart anything. Of course, she goes to Aldi and Walmart anyway.
