Also remember his Italian grandmother cursing her as “quella puttana” for taking our Lady’s name, and forcing us to turn the TV off and go outside.

The year of her first songs the “experts” in the music industry had a consensus that of the new female stars, Madonna would not have follow up hits and her career would fade but Cyndia Lauper would go on to have two or three hit albums a year for decades. Didn’t work out that way.
It’s amazing how some stars like Madonna and Rod Stewart keep going and evolving and having new audiences while others are quickly gone.
