When I was a kid Gene Rayburn (”Match Game”) and Art Fleming (”Jeopardy”) were on NBC in the 1960’s.

Don Pardo also in my memory announcing those “Jeopardy” shows.

This is a pilot “Match Game” from 1962...

Those Silver Age game show hosts were the best. Art James, Bill Cullen, Jack Barry, Gary Moore, Wink Martindale. Regular guys (Bill Cullen almost qualifies as special needs) who weren’t necessarily handsome, but were likeable guests in the home. I was a game show junkie as a youngster, so I am familiar with most of them. When home sick it was that, cartoons, old sitcoms, or reading comic books (school work?! But I’m SICK!)

Don Pardo was also the original announcer for Saturday Night Live. He was the one who would introduce the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players."
