A 4-3 pitchers’ duel, a 24-run hitting clinic by Florida, then an 18-run hitting clinic by LSU. Best argument I’ve seen for a seven game MCWS. This one’s kinda like kissing your sister…
I wondered if the Gators shot themselves in the foot by running up the score on Sunday. And then their starter fell apart and that was kind of it - all the good bounces they got on Sunday went LSU’s way tonight. Congratulations to the Tiggers - see you next year.

Great MCWS this year - many exciting, interesting games leading up to the final 2 teams. Glad to see LSU “return the favor” & take it to FL tonight!
Best argument I’ve seen for a seven game MCWS.

For the championship/finals round?
I don’t think so. Teams have already been in Omaha for 11-12 days after two weeks of regionals and super regional tournaments. Stretching it out from 2-3 days to a 7 day final round wouldn’t sell.
Keep it (lose) “2 and barbecue” (go home) double elimination format like the regionals, super regionals and the play in the first part of the CWS.
Other years have seen the CWS altering their schedule to be done in time for the Olympic Swim Trials and other events needing the hotel space. Fans traveling with the teams have a hard time being gone from home base for close to two weeks now.
SEC three years in a row :
2021 Mississippi State
2022 Ole Miss
2023 Louisiana State
SEC needs to use wooden bats.
I know! We were discussing about it last night during the game.
BOOOOOOOOOO!
Well, my boys from out at Lubbock went toe-to-toe with the Gators and lost out. Like all sports, it is a game of inches and could have, would have’s. It is pretty easy to get two teams to the finals when your whole conference makes the tournament. Kind of like winning a National Championship in football when two of the four teams are from the SEC. Don’t get me started. It is all about ratings.
Totally agree 👍

*********
They’ve actually won 4 straight.
2018 Oregon St
2019 Vanderbilt
2020 No tournament- covid hysteria.

2022 Ole Miss
2023 Louisiana St
I didn’t have a dog in the fight; after the last Texas team was out, I was just glad both were Southern — and I saw lots of really good baseball. But as I said before, this was a little like kissing your sister.
Yesterday we were the windshield, tonight we were the bug!
Congrats, LSU.
“LSUbaseball is the 2023” champs. Amazing. I know how tough it is to play baseball and I admire players who can win in their divisions. Huge are both the stress on the field and the demand for precision.
“SEC needs to use wooden bats.”
I will never ever get use to hearing that dull vibration of that metal bat. A wooden bat is much safer than a runner rounding the bases, as we saw last night.
I so wanted the Gators to win their 3rd national title in the last month or so. (Men’s track and field, men’s golf). That would have been awesome. I did enjoy the run by the BB team though.
Both teams are SEC teams so it would be 4 straight regardless of who won the final game.
At least when it goes to extra innings they don’t have that ridiculous innovation of having a runner at second at the beginning of each half-inning (whoever made the third out the last time that team was at bat), like in MLB.
