So impeachment makes sense but not removal by the Senate.
There are not close to 218 votes in the House.
The Senate wont convict anyway, so impeachment is the only thing on the table. Impeachment, by itself, wont change anything in terms of power. We saw that with Trump. I expect no less with Biden. His mental state is more likely to impact the Dem primary process than impeachment would.
That said, the “right” thing to do is impeach. There are legitimate crimes involved in Biden’s case. The only political calculus is whether impeachment is helpful or not in the next election cycle.
One one hand, if Biden is impeached and he does run against Trump, throwing out the impeachment card to attack Trump is now mute (most of us know that Trumps impeachment was political garbage anyway, but the left would still keep bringing it up. Biden being impeached would make that more difficult).
On the other hand, would an impeachment process against Biden turn a certain percentage of independent voters off voting a republican ticket? I dont know.
I always try to lean towards doing the right thing.
