The old civil-libertarian, integrationist Democratic Party that existed from the 1960s through 2000.

The Democrats didn't like integration before 1964.
The Democrats don't like integration today.
I'm not sure how much credit we ought to give Democrats for spending just a few decades somewhat agreeing with Republicans that integration was fine and skin color didn't matter.

And the "civil-libertarian" business? Let's talk gun control. Second Amendment. A basic civil liberty. The Democrats hate it. Largely because, you know, the negroes might get guns.
