A Hillary Clinton campaigner has received backlash online after claiming that parents who support admission tests and gifted programs are part of the 'far right.'
Amanda Litman made the comments last week while reacting to the results of a New York City parent council election that saw candidates endorsed by Parent Leaders for Accelerated Curriculum and Education (PLACE) win a majority of seats.
PLACE supports academic screenings policies like the Specialized High School Admissions Test, or SHSAT, as well as expanding accelerated curriculum options and gifted and talented programs, which critics say leads to segregation. The group also opposes lottery-based admissions and Critical Race Theory.
'The far right’s effort to take over schools is not limited to battlegrounds or red states - they just won 40 percent of the elected education roles in NYC,' Litman tweeted.
Litman's tweet sparked wide criticism, with many taking issue with her labeling of the parent organization.
One comment read: 'far right" == people who dont want to teach math is racist, lower test standards.'
Another added: 'Academic success is far-right? What a strange world you inhabit.'
A third said: 'yeah you’ve diluted that label, no one cares anymore.'
'I’m a cofounder,' said Yiatin Chu. 'PLACE is a group of parent volunteers who advocate for rigorous accelerated education, which should be nonpartisan. There nothing far right or left about our advocacy.'
Litman, who worked as a digital strategist for Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, co-founded Run For Something, which recruits and supports progressives running for office.
PLACE endorsed 147 candidates across New York's five boroughs and their candidates won a majority of seats in about half a dozen parent councils, as reported by Chalkbeat, with 115 of them winning their races.
The election was seen as another battleground for a national debate about what should be...

This suburban soft-neo-marxism carries weight with a lot of white liberals, particularly women - the typically brain-dead clinton lovers
I had a minor battle with our school system about improving access to, and simple preparation, for advanced math/stem classes offered, FOR FREE, by a local university, starting with middle-school students who could test-in.
We were not even asking for any special treatment, only that the school announce clearly to parents and students when placement tests would be done, point out resources to prepare for them. Again - the whole thing was free to school and parents when applying. Having “advanced” students did require a bit more work, at times, for teachers and administrators to manage these kids who were attending advanced classes.
Of course, the fat, lazy, woke Union karens opposed it, so did many fat lazy woke mothers
My allies were only a few professional/immigrant Chinese, Korean, Russian and Indian parents in our district.
Why is “far-right” a bad thing?
In case anyone has forgotten, this is the political wife who sent her daughter to Sidwell Friends private school.
Per FR rules, I didn’t read down far enough to see where this happened but guessing it was the stellar Baltimore school district.

Sadly he’s right. Leftists HATE educational excellent, and most Republicans STILL send their kids to public school, which tells you how little they care about whether their kids get an education.
What the elite aim for is credentials which they can control, not skills which anyone can get with brains, hard work and self-discipline. Hat do you think the Obama and Bushes have in common? And - the right to a good life without working for it.
Hat = what
odd that the Hillary campaign would hire a Monica Lewenski look alike...
Maybe Bubba conducted the “interview”.
She saved the blue dress. She gets whatever she wants.
No problem...slick willie’s willie is no longer slick
What’s far right about being so bored in kindergarten at 4 that you start telling your mom you have a headache because you know all your colors, can count, read, do some basic math and can’t bare sitting through it? What’s far right about starting to turn into a juvenile delinquent in high school because you can get A’s without cracking a book? I didn’t have any politics at 4, and little at 14. They hate Christians and the “normies,” and want to destroy us so they can keep their slaves dumb, and producing for their pleasures. Jesus set us free from their system, but how many actually walk out?
NORMAL people support SHSAT, and expanding accelerated curriculum options and gifted and talented programs.
Far-leftists, who want America to go down the drain, oppose them!!!! These people are TRAITORS, pure and simple!!!!
it does lead to segregation, but not racial, it segregates the ones who want to learn from the masses of mouth breathers.
I put a lot of blame on teachers unions.
“Republicans STILL send their kids to public school, which tells you how little they care about whether their kids get an education.”
Or they can’t afford private schools. Places that allow choice to attend charter schools is helpful.
*That* was funny!
Hang every single one of those traitors in the public square!
Just another "young skull full of mush".
