The Navy would not tell, nor would the Coast Guard ask............But, I can tell you they, the Navy, knew from the beginning it was gone. That’s why they dragged their feet to not send any ships of search equipment.................

The SOSUS network was declassified in 1992, and has been (most likely) partially decommissioned in recent years. But much of the hardware still remains operational, hence my suggestion that the US Navy may have detected the sound of the submersible’s demise, especially only several hundred miles off the Canadian coast.

and i strongly suspect the U.S. Navy was able to pinpoint the location of the implosion sound and secretly alerted the head of the U.S. Coastguard where exactly to search, because all the “experts” were saying that the search area was so large that it would be essentially impossible to locate the Titan ...

I do, too. All the cold war era equipment we’ve put on the ocean bottoms around the world could hear a whale fart across the seas.
Of course the Navy knew it, if they didn’t then they got some explaining to do for where all the money went.
