St. Louis County authorities said 29-year-old Tio Robinson is facing a felony stealing charge (Class C felony) because the value totaled more than $25,000.
Investigators said Robinson, along with other men, were able to obtain winnings from the machines by altering a $100 bill with a string attached, then pulling it out, ultimately tricking the machine into thinking money had been inserted.

What kind of crappy casino would have machines you could do that to? Is it part of a roadside petting zoo?

I can’t believe something the Little Rascals did in the 1930’s hasn’t been overcome.

Most likely the gambling devices are state approved and sold by an approved vendor. Who happens to be the brother-in-law of a politician with some clout.
Hopefully, this keeps him off the dole and the sister happy.

Evidently the slot machines were in grocery stores.
So how’s that for giving the consumer a choice? Spend money to feed your family or play the slots instead.

Excellent choice for a position in the Biden Crime Family Administration.

Evidently the slot machines were in grocery stores. Clearly, you have NOT been to Reno. Or Las Vegas. Or Pahrump.
The bloody slot machines are everywhere.
 Almost.
I haven't seen them in restroom stalls.
 Yet ...

When I was a kid we spent the summer in the Catskills. I heard stories about "alleged" wise guys at the bottom of just about every lake in Sullivan Cty.
One such urban legend that was true was Walter Sage, involved with a crew that handled illegal slot machines in the resorts up there. In 1937 he was pulled out of Swan Lake, not too far from where Woodstock took place decades later. Apparently he too got greedy but suffered a much worse fate than these scammers. Some things never change.

...by altering a $100 bill with a string attached...So this guy didn't use the Government installed string that all US Dollars are factory equipped with at the Fed, to pull back money from the American people?
All he needed to use that string was to Bribe Biden.
He'd have been Home Free!

I live in a rust-belt state, far from Las Vegas. Slot machines are now appearing in grocery stores near me. And there are two pawn shops within a five-minute drive from my house.
I never saw any of that when I was a kid. But back then, the steel mills were going full blast. The mills are now gone, replaced by slot machines, pawn shops, and dollar stores.
I guess we’ll have to rely on imported Chinese steel if we ever get into a war with China. Oh, wait. That won’t work at all.
