The split in the ranks of the Russian occupiers is intensifying. Prigozhin’s press service published an audio recording in which the founder of the Wagner PMC claims that the Russian Defense Ministry twice tried to physically destroy his militants. Once in Syria, and the second - in Bakhmut.
In addition, Prigozhin said that his mercenaries would not sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense, contrary to Shoigu’s order and Putin’s statement. According to Prigozhin, the PMC ‘does not want to go down the path of shame again,’ and, in his opinion, the Wagnerites should receive social guarantees from the state automatically.

As someone who does not like Ukraine, but values human life, I respectfully suggest that Ukraine’s govt should immediately negotiate an end to this war (started in 2014).
There won’t be enough Ukrainian men left if this war continues to procreate more.

On Friday 16 June, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that Russia could strike air bases outside Ukraine if F-16 fighter jets intended to be used in the war were based there.

DETAILS: According to the Russian president, “NATO, of course, is getting involved in the war in Ukraine,” because it continues to help Ukraine with military equipment, and now “the option of supplying aircraft is being considered”.
QUOTE: “Tanks are burning, several tanks have been destroyed, including the Leopard... They’re burning. So will the F-16s. There is no doubt,” Putin said.
“But if these [jets – ed.] are located at air bases outside of Ukraine, and are used in hostilities, we will have to look at how we are affected and where we are affected by the means used in hostilities against us,” the Russian president added.
He said this poses a “serious danger of further drawing NATO into this armed conflict.”
Earlier, after a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels, Reznikov said that he had received promises from the allies to start exercises for Ukrainian pilots on Western fighters.
Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said the preparation of a training plan for Ukrainian pilots has made progress, although it will still take some time.

On June 4/5 the Ukrainian military launched its long announced counteroffensive in southeast Ukraine. Ten days later there is no significant progress.

There is little the Biden administration can do to change the grim picture. Congress will likely prevent it from openly using the U.S. military in Ukraine. The European NATO allies have now seen what the Russian army can do to its enemies. They will not be eager to see the same done to their own troops.
That leaves negotiations as the only way out.
The question for Russia is when and with whom. Talks with only Ukraine, a mere U.S. proxy with no real say, would be insufficient. It is the U.S. government that must agree to a new security architecture in Europe. The Russian conditions for peace will be harsh and it will still take a lot of time, and many dead Ukrainians, until the U.S. agrees to them.
None. The dueling disinfo around here gets tiresome. I see NATO and Russia both being intractable. Neither side is willing to relent. Unless this gets escalated to WWIII, it looks like a stalemated quagmire to me.
