If you have never been through the grinder on this, you wouldn’t know:
1. That parents can have their parental rights revoked if they push too hard against it.
2. The system is rigged for affirmation, not a cure.
3. The therapists that specialize in GD push affirmation, not cure.
4. Some gender clinics will not be truthful with parents. I pushed - HARD - and caught them shoveling crap when my own child went through this.
5. There are several medical conditions that can cause GD. Some are curable, some are not. My kid ultimately fell into the not curable category after 3 years and thousands spent on doctors and tests. Ironically, they refused to do the ACTH test when I asked for it; if they had, we could have done something. By the time they actually did do it, the damage was done. Her adrenal receptors were already conditioned to recognize free floating adrenal androgens as testosterone and her body was developing like a boy during puberty.
Parents are just more meat for the grinder.
And FYI, the stuff they are pushing is antithetical to actual studies and science.
Seriously, if I were to write an article on it, it would be 4 parts long and many thousands of words.
So what would you do different if you could turn back the clock?
Not saying you were responsible in any way, but I don’t know how parents live with themselves for even being partly responsible for such a mutilation.

Very sorry you went through that. I know many of these clinics use emotional blackmail to get parents to agree to their child’s transition, implying the child will commit suicide if the parents don’t agree. Some parents are Munchasen by proxy types who bask in the attention given to trans kids and their family members, but many others are simply fed a pack of lies.
