ILLINOIS’ PENSION BONANZA: INVEST $166K, TAKE HOME $5.5M
Illinois Policy ^ | 15 june 2023 | Patrick Andriesen

It’s good to be in the top 10 of an Illinois state pension plan: median contribution, $165,852; median lifetime payout, $5.5 million.

The top 10 pensioners in each of its five statewide systems has already received a median state pension worth $3.88 million since retiring. They are predicted to each collect about $1.62 million more during their lifetimes.

Workers who spend their careers working for Illinois collect the third-most generous retirement benefits in the nation. But the top 10 pensioners in each system earn more than double the median lifetime payout of these career pensioners.

Former Elgin School District 46 Superintendent Marvin Edwards contributed just $63,527 to his retirement. He’s collected $4.5 million since 2002.

Illinois is deep blue. They will figure it out. The voters there are cool with it. The other 49 states have absolutely no say in this.

Of course. Opportunity is there. But people need to get off the lazy boy and get to work. There are employment opportunities in illinois for sure. Just need to apply. From the look on here, many wished they did chose a different occupation.

You know they do and the taxpayer gets crumbs and pays for their luxury.

Past time for torches, tar and feathers. Past time for even worse.

I’m not defending. I’m adding facts to the nonsense. Are you from illinois? If not, this doesn’t affect you one bit. If you are from illinois, vote the politicians out. No need getting a heart attack over something you can’t control.

Of course you can’t even answer my post. Defend? There’s nothing to defend. It’s reality. One day I hope you get some.

In the paper this week there was a picture of a hulking relative youngster city employee of 30 years retiring. Not a day over 50 and it is a defined retirement program, non-contributory.

He will be on relative easy street for decades.

When I see these same people “working” there are usually at least 3 yo 5 of them to do a one man job.

Looks like Free Republic's DeSantis supporter's disagree. They'll tell you ya should have simply chose a different career and you too should have jumped on the government's obscene corrupt gravy train. Spit*

I have always felt that most government jobs should be performed by the private sector. Have the employees hired by a management firm and give them standard benefits any other worker would get. The employee would have to contribute to their 401K. If they are not up to the job they get fired. This way the chaff can be eliminated. Why shouldn’t they have to work like the rest of us.

You saw the itallian stallion’s signature of a bill in floriduh prohibiting direct, as in not traditional stealership and lot, sales of cars this week didn’t you?

Yeah buddy. That is the kind of attitude I want in a president.

Can you hear the great sucking sound on K street?

Yep...

“””This week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed H.B. 637 into law. The bill, which goes into effect July 1, bans most vehicle manufacturers from selling their products directly to consumers. Instead, automakers must continue to rely on franchised dealerships to act as middlemen.”””

I don’t understand the disgust over this. Every person in the United States chose a career they wanted. For those who chose a different path, are you unhappy? Why didn’t you chose this path???? Every single person in the country could have done this.

I’m not defending.

You're not defending this? Ya think anyone buys your BS?

I think you’re missing the point. EVERYONE can’t work for the government. Who pays for the government workers if no one is working in jobs that actually PRODUCE things?
