What do your HOA rules say?
Since Redwoods are a protected species, one can assume there could be legal troubles if you are wanting to cut one down that somebody planted in your yard.
I was just wondering what to do about that.
It does not grow like bamboo. It grows a few inches a year.
It says 3-10ft on this website.
I know it doesn’t grow as fast as bamboo, but it is a fairly fast growing tree if it gets all its nutrients.

Nonsense. Giant sequoias might grow as much as two feet per year, but about half that is more likely.
This is a cute story, but not all that believable.
“A giant Sequoia would be your entire yard.”
Whew! I thought I may have accidentally cut one down the other day while trimming hedges. My neighbor said not to worry, it was a dogwood. He said giant Sequoia’s are rare in NC. ;)
I’m referring to Giant Sequoias. I’m not sure the growth rate of coastal redwoods but it’s not that fast. One in our neighborhood got to be the height of a eucalyptus after about 30 years. But then it died. So Cal is just not optimal for them.
Now, the native oak tree in our yard has gone from a twig to a big mature tree in 25 years. Native oaks might be protected. Idk.
...it depends who sees you chop it down.
Your source is incorrect. Redwoods are not ‘protected’
I harvest around every 5 years. NTMP. The ‘P’ is for plan.
That means I cut redwoods. Send them to the mill and they send me dollars.
Only if they are infested with spotted owl nests
You can’t cut them down. They have to be logged.

“...Are you allowed to chop down giant sequoia trees...”

“Chop” down?
Well, yes but you will wear yourself and many axes out in the process.
Good one!
What a self centered anarchist.
Had a wonderful tour of the Vinson in the ‘90s in Alameda.
Asked about other things to see I asked about the reactor.
Next question?
Axes are to pound wedges.
Jeez, and I thought I was upset because my cat died.
CVN-70 is an eco-friendly electric vehicle.
Just keep telling everyone its a cypress tree in your yard and its attracting cypress bark beetles and you need to cut it down before they spread. If you already told everyone its a sequoia I can’t help you.
