IMHO the security guard got carried away singling out Hadwin, given all the other people on the green at the time.
Because, nowadays, Canada is a joke of a country, would be my guess. Their response, at a national level, to the COVID pandemic speaks to just how much those people have lost the thread.
It’s not the security guard’s job to decide who gets to rush onto the course waving a bottle. It’s his job to stop anyone who might be a threat, and he doesn’t get to take a whole lot of time to think it over. I think the guard deserves a bonus for quick action.
On TV I watched Nick TAylor win yesterday. In an not usual circumstance, a brother of mine (he plays golf twice a weeK) called me shortly before Tommy Fleetwood tied Nick forcing a playoff. He was watching the match on his TV at home. We watched and talked with each other all through to the end. That rarely happens with us - though not quite as rarely as a Canadian winning the PGA Canadian Open (which last happened 69 years ago).
Yikes, could’ve ended that players career if broken bones or anything like that!
Hope he’s ok to play this week, US Open.
The events I go to have badges of different stripes and colors, literally, that enable you to visit the event.
The “security state” extremist mentality is everywhere.
