Regardless of how you feel about them, it’s undeniable that Waylon Jennings and Garth Brooks are two of the most influential names in the history of country music. Obviously, they were from different eras of country music, and from the time of his meteoric rise in the ’90s Garth was almost immediately hit with criticism of being too “pop” for country.
Including (allegedly) from Waylon Jennings.
Though he never really confirmed it in public, Waylon was reportedly not the biggest fan of Garth and his brand of country music. And there have been plenty of alleged quotes attributed to Waylon that seemingly show how he felt about Garth.
There was, of course, that one quote that we’ve probably all heard:

Garth is a mental case, although an extremely wealthy one.
Im guessing his song "friends in low places" is an autobiography?
My son-in-law is the chief engineer at a large metropolitan area and sees many acts and pro-athletes.
After Brooks & Trisha Yearwood played there a couple of years ago, he told me that Yearwood was one of the most insuffable, demanding & ungrateful he had been around and Brooks was one of the most nicest, appreciative and grateful. He said Brooks made a point of personally thanking every arena employee he saw after the show.
Brooks is wrong here, but I trust my son-in-law’s judgment.
I think you mean Chris Gaines.
I pegged him as a poser from Day One.
Outlaw County gave rednecks an excuse to grow long hair and smoke dope.
Years ago, Brooks was the face of the RIAA's attack on used record stores.
The best stories about the road are the ones that aren’t true.

I’ve been on that road, and could tell some stories that are absolutely true.
Maybe Garth is preparing to come out of the closet.
Brooks, Springsteen and Paisley - the three stooges

So did Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash in the 60s, Mother Earth News, back to the land, old pickups, basic farm guns, earth mothers, farms and rural living with big gardens and chickens, wine beer and doobies with cowboy hats and red bandanas, people don’t know much about the few real hippies, and how many of them lived and thought.
There is a real chance that this could lead to his bar becoming a homosexual bar.
I always thought Garth was light in the loafers. Not manly at all.
Whatever else, gb is as flaky as a buttermilk biscuit…has a few good songs…and money…he doesn’t need any of my money….and that’s good…
