We know America is experiencing a mental health crisis, but the Youth Risk Behavior Survey recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) illustrates just how serious the problem has become for America’s young people. In 2021, almost three in five teenage girls felt persistent sadness.

They’ve been raised in a Godless culture, self-absorbed in soulless media.
Indeed.
They are living contrary to how we are supposed to live.
Because of whom we have taking up residence in the White House?
They sit and stew in a bath of fake news driven to them by media company algorithms that only push the news items and advertising indicating that society is broken. I just spent a few hours with 18-25 year olds in a situation where the phones were packed away in watertight bags and all but one was happy about it. Since the real peer group was face to face, the language was real, emotions were high, loving and funny and not fitting the monitored speak of what they do online. That not drowing on the river was a task for them, they were normal. Everyone needs a bigger opponent than status.
Soibois and cat ladies in training have nothing left to live for except AI generated VR and the unnerving sound of the Gods of the Copybook Headings standing just offstage sharpening their blades.
If I were the Prince of Darkness I would want to engulf the whole earth in darkness.
I'd have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree.
So I should set about however necessary, to take over the United States.
I would begin with a campaign of whispers.
With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whispers to you as I whispered to Eve, "Do as you please."
To the young I would whisper "The Bible is a myth." I would convince them that "man created God," instead of the other way around. I would confide that "what is bad is good and what is good is square."
In the ears of the young married I would whisper that work is debasing, that cocktail parties are good for you. I would caution them not to be "extreme" in religion, in patriotism, in moral conduct.
And the old I would teach to pray — to say after me — "Our father which are in Washington."
Then I'd get organized.
I'd educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull, uninteresting.
I'd threaten TV with dirtier movies, and vice-versa.
I'd infiltrate unions and urge more loafing, less work. Idle hands usually work for me.
I'd peddle narcotics to whom I could, I'd sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction, I'd tranquilize the rest with pills.
If I were the Devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions; let those run wild.
I'd designate an atheist to front for me before the highest courts and I'd get preachers to say, "She's right."
With flattery and promises of power I would get the courts to vote against God and in favor of pornography.
Thus I would evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, then from the Houses of Congress.
Then in his own churches I'd substitute psychology for religion and deify science.
If I were Satan I'd make the symbol of Easter an egg
And the symbol of Christmas a bottle.
If I were the Devil I'd take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. Then my police state would force everybody back to work.
Then I would separate families, putting children in uniform, women in coal mines and objectors in slave-labor camps.
If I were Satan I'd just keep doing what I'm doing and the whole world go to hell as sure as the Devil.
If you force kids to live in a godless society, this is what you get.
Stupid is,is stupid does.
The mind rebels against being compelled to discard reason and rational behavior. There is a great deal of psychological trauma in forcing people to accept fantasy over what their eyes and intellect tells them is true.
It’s not that progressives are depressed and unhappy. It’s that depressed and unhappy people become progressives. Being a Progressive is a symptom of having a mental illness.
When I was 12, my friends and I wanted nothing more than to go to a cool Southern California beach party. But that wasn't very practical in upstate New York, so we didn't dwell on it. It was always a fun fantasy to have, but nothing more than that.
I sure miss Paul Harvey. I used to listen to him every morning on the way to work.
Nailed it.
Well stated!
It's the classic situation of an alcoholic -- you can't be helped until you want to be helped. And these mentally ill, deeply unhappy people seem convinced that they are fine, they don't need help -- you're the problem, not them. You need to change and stop being so racist, so sexist, and so uncaring about Climate Change.
Exactly. What’s good is bad, what’s bad is good in Proggie-Land.
Wow
Me too. I thought him such an admirable commentator, and bloody interesting! Best wishes to you.
