Notorious domestic terrorist Theodore ‘Ted’ Kaczynski - the 'Unabomber' - is found dead in North Carolina federal prison cell aged 81

Notorious domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski, also known as the 'Unabomber', has died aged 81 in federal prison, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons said Saturday.

Kaczynski was found dead around 8 a.m. at a federal prison in North Carolina. A cause of death was not immediately known.

After shooting to infamy by orchestrating 16 bombings over a 17-year reign of terror, Kaczynski was given life without the possibility of parole when he was finally caught in 1996.

Kaczynski was captured after a years-long manhunt tracked him to a primitive cabin in western Montana woodland, where he built the explosives he used to kill three people and injure 23 others between 1978 and 1995.

He had been moved to the federal prison medical facility in North Carolina after spending two decades in a federal Supermax prison in Colorado.

Kaczynski was a Harvard educated mathematician who later retreated to the Montana wilderness after coming to believe technology would spell the end of civilization.

He executed a sinister plan to detonate explosives in universities and airports, which he would often mail to his victims using the postal service.

Years before the Sept. 11 attacks and the anthrax mailing, the Unabomber’s deadly homemade bombs changed the way Americans mailed packages and boarded airplanes, even virtually shutting down air travel on the West Coast in July 1995.

He published a sprawling 35,000 word manifesto named 'Industrial Society and Its Future', which claimed modern society was plagued by the increasing role of technology in everyday life.

While the fear he spurred led The Washington Post and The New York Times to take the agonizing decision in September 1995 to publish the manifesto, it ultimately led to his undoing.

This could’ve saved the cost of 26 years of incarceration. Same result.

According to what I read, Kaczynski was subjected to verbal abuse every week for about 3 years, a total of about 200 hours. I didn’t read that they gave him LSD, but they did give it to others in the MKUltra experiments, notably Frank Olson, a bacteriologist who worked for the CIA and who had become increasingly concerned about government abuses of power. He died.

It appears to me that the CIA has had morally deranged individuals operating unfettered for most and possibly all of its existence. The information I’ve gotten from wikipedia and assorted random websites may, of course, be disinformation.

I’m reminded of an old Punch comic, which showed a police detective in someone’s study, and there are suspicious paraphernalia all around. In the middle of the study, there is a deceased man, half-transformed to a werewolf, lying on the floor in the middle of a large pentagram, an exotic sword protruding from his chest.

He is holding a bottle labeled poison in one hand, and a revolver in the other. There is a tattered noose around his neck, and burned out candles surrounding the pentagram. A raven sits on top of a skull on his mantle, and a large, venomous snake is crawling about. etc.

And the detective is saying to his P.C., “I’ve seen this sort of thing before, and it’s not pretty.”

It would be tough to make a straight line from the MkUltra program to Kaczynski’s psychosis and subsequent terrorist activities.

It probably didn’t help. Was is it “unwitting” or was he a volunteer? Probably not much of a distinction, participants had virtually no follow up, if at all, and informed consent wasn’t part of the program.

At one Kentucky prison (inmates were a favorite test cohort) several individuals were fed increasing doses of L.S.D. for 77 days. Sleep deprivation was part of the testing, they used electric cattle prods to keep them from falling asleep.

MkUltra was far more sinister than is widely known, even today. The majority of the initial L.S.D. “testing” was done in the 1950s, on military, government, academic, and prison populations. Then it went mainstream on the civilian population in the 1960s, especially in California.

Kaczynski was undoubtedly an intelligent individual. Nobody gets admitted into 1950s Harvard physics or math programs at age 16 unless they are remarkably gifted.

The the CIA was augmented with NAZIs when it was formed out of the OSS. Russia got some of those NAZIs, we got some, and the British got some. The rocket NAZIs didn’t go to Britain.

For a period of several weeks in 1966, Kaczynski experienced intense sexual fantasies of being female and decided to undergo gender transition. He arranged to meet with a psychiatrist, but changed his mind in the waiting room and did not disclose his reason for making the appointment. Afterwards, enraged, he considered killing the psychiatrist and other people whom he hated. Kaczynski described this episode as a “major turning point” in his life:”I felt disgusted about what my uncontrolled sexual cravings had almost led me to do. And I felt humiliated, and I violently hated the psychiatrist. Just then there came a major turning point in my life. Like a Phoenix, I burst from the ashes of my despair to a glorious new hope.”

I studied under his mentor — all theory very little practical application. That might be part of the problem too.

# 1 There once was a gal named Lewinsky Who played on a
flute like Stravinsky ‘Twas “Hail to the Chief” on this flute
made of beef that stole the front page from Kaczynski.

# 2 Said Bill Clinton to young Ms. Lewinsky We don’t want to
leave clues like Kaczynski, Since you look such a mess, use
the hem of your dress And wipe that stuff off of your
chinsky.

# 3 Lewinsky and Clinton have shown what Kaczynski must
surely have known: that an intern is better than a bomb in a
letter given the choice to be blown.

I guess some manifestos are more equal than others.

Yep. Speaking of manifestos; we still have never seen the one by that tranny who massacred children in that Nashville school.

Gee, I wonder why that is.

Don’t have to, I have extensive NY Subway experience. I wish I were kidding or exaggerating. The smell is second in offensiveness only to a rotting corpse.

I know that smell, I was once stationed at US Customs in San Francisco airport at the international terminal. This guy got off the plane dressed as a Taliban or someone in Africa garb. Fancy African dressed, the guy smelled like death. He was like 6 foot 6 and dressed well but the stink was insufferable.

Apparently his tribe viewed bathing as something bad, so they never cleaned them self, their stench was their strength.

I can't think of what it would be like to sit on an airplane near him. I've been around a few rotting corpses and they smelled better.

The airline gave him a bar of sop and a towel and said clean up or you are not getting on you connecting flight. My best guess is that he was heading to the US State Department.
