Well, having never watched the show, I had no clue what he did for a living. Looking it up, I see he manages several commercial real estate properties. while I don't know what kind of money that brings in exactly, I assume it is an amount larger than what most people make.

So, I am not sure what the reasoning was for having his family on display like that. I certainly wouldn't have liked it.

Sounds like he valued money way too much, which again is a seduction for most people. Even for the mega rich who are never satisfied with their wealth, because they desire more & more power that increases along with the money.

I agree, his wisdom in doing so, does right make it valid to question his wisdom in doing the show. Put yourself in the spot light, and all is well, until it isn't. With 19 children of their own and adopting a 20th child creates opportunities for one, or more, to become a cause for problems. Mainly because humans are far from being perfect.
