From an earlier article:

The group [Western Energy Alliance] noted, “Sec. Haaland has several conflicts of interest related to Chaco as the Alliance pointed out in a recent letter to the House Committee on Natural Resources. The secretary’s conflicts involve her daughter’s ties to the climate group Pueblo Action Alliance (PAA). While ignoring the Navajos during the review process, Sec. Haaland granted PAA special access to her office to further her daughter’s lobbying activities.”

Native Americans in New Mexico and Arizona are overwhelmingly democrat, so you natives got the forked-tongued paleface you voted for.

As with all things Indian in the us sites are priceless spiritual and historic heritage locations - until money is to be made. Then the sacred burial ground filled with ancient ancestors can be bulldozed and turned into a car park for a casino - the sooner the better to green backs flowing

The letter from the Navajo Nation seems very differential. Given that the Navajo Nation issues its own passports and has some UN recognition, I wonder why their reply is not more muscular. Maybe more is going on.

Fifty years ago there were plans to build some power plants on the Navajo reservation, that is until the American Indian Movement got it all shut down. The tribe has been in poverty ever since.

Now there is a chance for an inflow of money and jobs and an American Indian Woman of the Laguna Pueblo Tribe of Winslow AZ got it shut down. Winslow is a long way from Chaco Canyon.

In the olden days the Pueblo and Navajo tribes hated each other. Maybe they still do.

Bill Clinton blocked coal mining on 1.7 million acres of Utah. It turns out he was getting bribe money from Indonesia sources who owned a coal mine there that would ship their coal here.
