I’ve always suspected that the first French speakers were cast out of their tribe because of speech impediments.
It’s a lovely language, excepting Parisian French, which sounds about like a Bronx accent sounds to Americans, I think.
The only prettier language is Ladino, which is a mix of Hebrew and Spanish. Far more fluid than Yiddish, which sounds basically German and harsh, despite my people’s fondness for it. Great insults, I suppose.
Ladino is rapidly dying off. I doubt there will be native speakers in two generations.
