When a woman suddenly wants to separate, for no known reason, it’s usually because she is being unfaithful and thinks she has found a better option.
90% of the time, her new relationship will fail and she will be begging to be able to return to her now ex-husband.
Odds that is what is going on with your daughter-in-law. However she found her new guy, she thinks she has tried him on enough to want to make the relationship permanent.
I don’t doubt that could be a very real possibility. It’s incredible how short sighted people can be. She has the 99% and will forgo it all to try and get that extra 1%, while ruining many parts of the existing 99%. Unreal.
It’s as though life has become far too easy, self centered, and we’re pumping out narcissistic behaviors (the one thing I do see in her).

Excellent post.
“Best friend” means she no longer finds her husband sexually attractive.
It would be very unusual for her to go for divorce in that situation (especially with young children) unless she had already started another relationship behind his back.
It is also highly unlikely the “new guy” is interested in a long term relationship with a women with kids—of course he hasn’t told her that...yet.

People fall in love outside of marriage. They often even come to their senses.
