You’re not actually stuck. That idea is fake and its by design. The big tech companies want you to think they have you cornered when they do not. There are options.
About a year and a half ago, my Windows phone died. So I researched Linux phones. I bought a Volla Phone.
Volla gives you an OS option: Linux or Volla OS (their own propriety brand). I opted for the latter.
Volla is manufactured in Germany. I was assured it would work in the U.S. When it arrived, I went to two T-Mobil stores, and two Metro-PCS stores. Nobody could get their Sim cards to work with the phone.
I sent the Volla Phone back to Germany, and bought an Apple.
