It’s common for people to point out that these so-called “AI systems” are not conscious, don’t have personalities, are not smarter than people. But it’s vital to know that none of that matters. The level of decision-tree algorithms we have right now, in 2023, are extremely transformative. They will change everything. Many blue-collar jobs, and many white-collar jobs are going away. And social trends are going to “drift” in unexpected directions because computers nudge them that way. None of this requires super-advanced Skynet computers with “awareness”. What we have right now is transformative enough to change everything.
