This is a brief clip from the film "Broadcast News" (1987), which is about the news media's declining standards. There was a lot of concern about it at that time, especially the news being dumbed down by the inferior standards of TV news, the public's taste for fluff, entertainment and infotainment rather than hard news, and corporate mergers.
I don't watch Hollywood movies anymore, so I'm not recommending it for entertainment or as fine art, but I do recommend it for the historical value. It's of Hollywood, and so does conflict with my Christian beliefs in some ways, but it does make some points extremely well.
In 1987, Plugs the Pedo was laughed on the stage by the leftist media when he tried to run for President, despite being one of theirs. 36 years later, there’s nothing they wouldn’t do for him to keep him installed. Tells you everything you need to know about the Marxist state propaganda machine.
A fine movie with a great cast.
Absence of Malice, with Paul Newman and Sally Field, was also a great movie exposing the deceptive practices of the “ news “ media.
It’s pretty much the movie (along with Network) that’s why I stopped watching TV “news”. Everything they said was true, and it’s more true now. TV “news” is a complete joke.
Albert Brooks was very funny.
Albert Brooks has done some of my favorite movies: “Defending Your Life” and “Lost In America”.
👍
