Are period dramas being RUINED by cosmetic surgery? Viewers of 10 Pound Poms and Bridgerton say they're 'struggling to enjoy the series' and are 'distracted' by obvious modern day beauty - like fillers and microblading

By their very nature, period dramas are supposed to transport viewers to a different time realm.

But while the genre has sky-rocketed in popularity of late, there's one aspect of the dramas that appear to be keeping them firmly grounded in the 21st Century: the casts' cosmetically enhanced faces.

Earlier this month, the new series 10 Pound Poms - starring Michelle Keegan and Faye Marsay - started airing on BBC One.

Yes, DVDs can be used to store data, and as such HD etc. video files. (Which a DVD player may or may not be able to play, given the multitude of different video codecs.)

But this was about commercial DVD video disks, and the original DVD video standard is SD, 480p. If you rent or buy a film on DVD it will be 480p.

Towards the bottom HD DVD is mentioned, but as you can see that attempt was quickly aborted.

“””I’ve been a member of BladeForums.com since 1998 “””

2003 for me, I just tried to sign into knifeforums and they seem to have closed, I don’t know which one I joined first.

Yes, first there was KnifeForums, and after some dissent which I don’t recall in detail, BladeForums split off from there.

KnifeForums didn’t survive.

What a loss, I posted a lot on kinfeforums.com and I used to collect fighting and combat knives when I had access to foreign special ops guys.

Like the flashlight forums, it led to a lot of money spent on knives such as the large Benchmade Rukus which I carry now, or the Spyderco ClipIt 9.2in Civilian Serrated Blade Black G-10 which is a great defensive knife, or the Ontario Hell’s Belle which I used to carry when going to the Hell’s Angel bar.

Yep, regularly browsing the forums is harsh on the wallet...

There are quite a few custom makers on BF who do spectacular work and really don’t charge much more than the better “big” companies.

I’ve started to move away from production knives, even by such companies such as Chris Reeve or Randall Made, and have picked up a custom here and there.

Anybody who’s watching Bridgerton in the expectation of finding historic authenticity is really barking up the wrong tree. Come on. You’re watching it for soft porn in fancy clothes and pretty locations, not because you expect realistic depictions of life in previous centuries. It’s for people who think Jane Austen’s novels weren’t sexy enough. They don’t want to see smallpox scars and horse manure in an age before anesthesia and dentistry.

"Gargoyles" still gets a thumbs up from me just for Jennifer Salt. lol And as someone who still watches "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Died and Became Mixed-Up Zombies" every month or so, I get you. And it was a guy named "Jack North", a local horror host (after Universal dropped all its movies), that did for me what "TJ and the ANT" did for you.

Here's a link to the movie in question, on Tubi: https://tubitv.com/movies/100003255/caviar?start=true

Enjoy, fellow psychotrope!

It’s why those Southern belles had parasols, fans, fainting couches and smelling salts. I remember my dear granny still wearing lace-up corsets in the 1940s. When you put your arms around her waist, it felt like a tree trunk.

Good luck getting more than 10 minutes of 4K video on a DVD.
