Correct. I meant, kidnapped by Africans. For example, almost the entire town of Baltimore Ireland was captured by African pirates who did a sneak attack on the town and took their captives to sell in the slave market in Africa. This kind of thing happened a lot in Europe, especially in areas closer to Africa (i.e. the Mediterranean coast). In fact, some Americans were captured too, but only ones sailing on ships through the area (the Africans didn't sail across the ocean and attack American towns).
Some say it's a major reason that the north African Muslim nations are now white. The primary purpose of the white slave women was sex slavery. Perhaps before the European slave trade, the north Africans were much darker. According to one Muslim tradition, Muhammad himself said that blondes (Al-Asfar) make the best sex slaves.
A lot of Europeans were captured by white Muslim pirates and sold into slavery as well. I think the latest Turkish slave raid on Sardinia was 1816.
The Christian victory at Lepanto in 1571 freed something like 10,000 European Christians who were galley slaves in the Turkish fleet.
