So I think we can see what the issue is. You’re in your late eighties, you say, so you were born before World War 2, back when people rarely used such language. You probably never served in the military or lived in circumstances in which people speak that way casually, without anger, without even strong negative meaning. It’s a mild intensifier for people who talk this way routinely. If they grow up surrounded by this language they don’t see it as bad or unchristian or even unusual; at twelve they have probably never been exposed to the idea that speech of that kind is not lovely. You’re all shocked and censorious but you don’t understand that millions of people today hear nothing else. And if this child was surrounded by thoughtless unChristian people, how do you expect her to know how to govern her speech? Really, if you are a Christian, it would be better for you to pray for her to come to know Jesus than to spend time online carping at others about what you view as their sins.
Is this where it’s appropriate to say - “you’re entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts”. I cannot comment on someone’s opinion and pray for the young girl and her family at the same time? Amazing!
~~people speak that way casually, without anger, without even strong negative meaning~~
Casually? What world do you live in? While you’re at it, try beginning a sentence without the word SO!!!!! You figured out when I must have been born? Again amazing! Starting sentences with the word “SO” establishes your age!
Bad habit!
