Girl snips off woman's hair in China salon, mum has to pay over $2,000 in compensation
A woman in China recently visited the salon for a new hairdo but ended up with choppy tresses.
Her 'hairdresser'? A six-year-old girl who swiped a pair of scissors and snipped off the woman's hair.
According to media reports, the girl's mother was getting her hair done in the same salon on May 16, and the child was spotted walking around the premises.
While no one was looking, the girl picked up a pair of scissors from the drawer, walked over to a customer and cut off a section of her long hair.
The incident was captured on the salon's CCTV, and a copy of the video was posted by South China Morning Post this week.
Devastated by the change in her appearance, the woman broke into tears and called the police.
After much negotiation, the girl's mum agreed to pay a compensation of 11,500 yuan (S$2,200) which will be used to fund eight sessions of hair extensions and hair care for the affected woman over the next two years.
Many netizens who watched the video said that the child should have been disciplined and taught how to behave in public.
Others pointed out that the mother should not have left her young child unsupervised in public places.
Some netizens said that it was unnecessary to call the police over the incident, as the girl was too young to understand the severity of her actions.
She's better than the hair dressers.
6 year olds barely know what is right or wrong. Cops getting involved here was a bit extreme, but its part of the package in China
The cops were involved because the parent (ie the adult) was going to be the one accountable. Thats why.
Think, people!
What a waste of money. Just cut it into a nice bob and let it grow back.
Isn’t it assault? That woman’s husband might divorce her.
“Devastated by the change in her appearance, the woman broke into tears and called the police.”
It’s a sign of the times with too many people today. Anytime something bad happens, SOMEONE has “got to pay” for it.
Say what you will, but I can’t imagine anyone ‘back in the day’ calling the cops over a thing like this. They’d be mad as hell about it, the kid would have got a paddling, but there’d be no cops called, or a fine levied.
No, it is parents being held responsible for their kid’s behavior. No problem with that.
A 6 yr old points a finger like a gun and cops will show up at the school
You do realize that this happened in China. Where we are at in the Puget Sound region of the great Pacific Northwest the police don't enforce the law. You can report a crime, but they typically will not respond to anything less serious than armed robbery, assault or murder and nothing actually happens especially if the perpetrator is a member of a “protected class”. To me in the "good old days" the police actually did something to curb crime. Thank you, black lives matter and the cabal of liberal politicians that gutted the police.
This was actually justice, In America, the woman would have done a shakedown on the salon for $50,000 or more, with half going to the lawyers.
Buffy and Jody did something like this to Mr. French once.
Al Bundy wanted to cut Peg’s hair to pay their back-tax bill. They ended up cutting Buck’s hair instead.
Exactly.
This is how it should be in the US. Your crotch goblin causes damage, you pay for it.
But people actually parented and watched their kids.
For real?
So much for personal/parental responsibility...
I remember when FReepers had more sense...
Cut it into a nice bob. Exactly. It’s the appropriate length. Who knows, it might just suit her. Either way, it’ll grow back.
Now, now, children can’t be disciplined. No swatting their butts or hands or making them sit in a corner. They need to express themselves so if chopping off someone’s hair, at least it wasn’t an ear, makes them happy then so be it. Upside down world.
Only an idiot spends a $2200 settlement on hair extensions.
Modern day parenting in action.
And look what happened to them, they all died within a few years.
