Which reminds me, I need to purchase and learn to use an affordable version of Ham Radio probably the model reccomended “For Dummies”.

1. Go to Amazon, buy dual band 140/440 baofeng for $40 with data cable. Maybe by 2-3 batteries as well.
2. 2-3 days later, when you receive it, connect baofeng to computer after dling Chirp ( free baofeng programming software) .
3. Use chirp (basically like excel) to program in all local emergency freq, gfs and walkie talkie channels. Also program in the single sideband channels for 140/440 mhz.
4. If the power does go out, i would spend more time listening to walkie talkie traffic because police/bad guys/etc will be using them. I wouldn’t get on channel unless it’s someone you know.
