In the 1997 “Spawn” movie, they raceswapped the character of Terry Fitzgerald, the black best friend of Al Simmons/Spawn by casting D.B Sweeney, a white actor. That’s just some food for thought.

More food for thought: In the movie “World Trade Center,” Oliver Stone cast a white actor for the part of a real-life Marine who’d helped to save people. That Marine was black. However, the Marine refused to speak negatively about the film: https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna14350685

Ariel is a fictional character. With that said, why must Hollywood remake older movies and recast the ethnicity of the character(s)? Can’t Hollywood come up with new stories?
