America's Bicentennial: Operation Tall Ships - 1976

I was an Airman in the USAF with my beautiful bride of two years sitting in our beanbag chairs in Sacramento watching this live on our little portable TV.

I was 16 and my parents and I went to NYC for it. My uncle was with PanAm and they had a viewing party half-way up one of the Twin Towers overlooking the river with all the ships on parade. And then the fireworks show!

Later that week we took our small runabout into the harbor and cruised around the ships at anchor. It was quite the memory.
