Does the M in MTV still stand for Music? Last few times I saw it, it was just a bunch of shows like this
https://www.mtv.com/shows instead of, you know, music television.

An interview with Robert Fripp, and a discussion about Roxy Music tour schedule. Quite “progressive” given the general top 40 pop/rock format of early MTV

And then they started to complain about the lack of blacks on MTV, and it all went downhill from there.

What was the difference between Yo MTV Raps, and everything else they showed, eventually it was all hip-hop 24/7.

Does the M in MTV still stand for Music? The irony is they only showed music videos for about 5 years from 1981 to about 1986, yet 37 years later they still have the ‘M’ in the name.

Many will never know that MTV used to play music videos and ESPN aired sports.
