MILLER LITE CARB DAY Friday, May 26 at 11:00am on Peacock network.
A bit of history:
For those that don't know Carb Day was the last chance to make any final adjustments to the engine fuel mixture and tuneup back in the days when the cars still used Carburetors before Fuel Injection replaced them. It was also the last chance for making any changes and adjustments to the cars.
These days it is the last chance to fine tune the setup of the car's suspension, make sure that the drivetrain has no leaks or other problems before Sunday's Indy 500.
End that history lesson.
It’s racing. It’s rock ‘n roll. It’s pure bliss. Miller Lite Carb Day is the ultimate turbo boost into the greatest weekend in racing! This high-octane party features some of the most exciting action on (and off) the track as the world revs its engines for the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. Let’s get Back to Rock Friday, May 26.
JEWEL TO PERFORM NATIONAL ANTHEM AT INDIANAPOLIS 500 May 19, 2023 | By Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Joins Must-Watch Pre-Race Show on NBC
Jewel, a multi-platinum singer-songwriter, actress, mental health lived experience expert and best-selling author, will perform the national anthem before the start of the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 28 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“The singing of the national anthem before the Indy 500 green flag is a signature and iconic moment at the Racing Capital of the World,” said IMS President J. Douglas Boles. “For over a century, we’ve gathered at IMS to salute our nation’s military heroes, and the national anthem performance is a tradition that reminds us all of their sacrifice and bravery. Jewel’s rendition will be a memorable and moving experience for fans at the track and watching from home on NBC.”
As a lived experience expert and pioneer in the mental health space, Jewel is passionate about democratizing wellness. She developed an emotional and mental health curriculum that has been proven to work by experts. For 21 years, her Inspiring Children Foundation and Jewel Inc. have been bringing these mental health programs to at-risk youth and to corporations. She recently joined the innovative mental health platform Innerworld as co-founder and chief strategy officer to make mental health support more accessible to all. Jewel also created SELLA, a language arts curriculum for schools that incorporates social and emotional learning and mental health practices.
Jewel went from a girl who grew up with no running water on an Alaskan homestead [The Kilcher family are relatives of the singer Jewel, with Atz being her father] to earning 26 music award nominations, becoming a multi-platinum recording artist who released one of the best-selling albums of all time.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a cause and conversation in which the INDYCAR paddock has been an active participant.
NBC’s live coverage of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge starts at 11 a.m. (ET) Sunday, May 28.

And Thank You and All of Our Military Active and Retired for Y'All's Service.
LOL !!! Not that I’m aware of.
Maybe they could score the contract for sucking out the Porta-Potties but it would have to include the logos of all of their products covering the entire Suck Truck. And the bimbo idiot marketing female has to wipe down the entire inside of All the Porta-Potties.
That’s Awesome !!! Only in America.
I know what You mean. I hear Indy 500 and instantly think of The Unsers. I hear Long Beach and it’s Little Al popping into My head.
It was pretty cool. I tell you, if I hadn’t seen him with my own two eyes, I might not have believed him, but there he was, just beaming and slapping backs with all the others.
I shudder to think that this could ever happen.
Wonderful story thanks for sharing
sure
Went to the race 7 years in a row back in the 70’s. Even went all 3 days in 1973 during the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Raining’. Last time I attended live was in the mid-80’s. Now I listen while slow smoking a Boston Butt for pulled pork sandwiches. Turn off the radio with about 50 laps to go and watch the rebroadcast in the evening.
My first race was a closed circuit live big screen show in 1964, i was nine. Than 1977. Than starting in 1988 every year through 2006, my son joining me in 1997 at the age of four. My son bought our way in last year. It has been fun to watch the transition of the cars.
Thank You
AJ Foyt’s team looks competitive this year
Over here (((PING)))
They're closing down the Unser racing museum here in Albuquerque. We have an entire Boulevard named after the family. Little Al's gotten himself in trouble on occasion here, but overall a decent sort from what I hear. The original shop they worked out of is on the northeast corner of old Route 66 (now Central Avenue) and Unser. They were the first shop in town as people came down off the west mesa into the valley heading east on 66 and the last place heading west.
As much as I dig F1, I have zero interest in Indy cars.
That said, I don’t ever watch F1 either... just follow it very closely.
