AB products have typically been lousy. I don’t know why anyome drinks Bud, BL, Busch, etc. Bud and BL are not cheap. The only one decent is Michelob. As often happens, once consumers try an alternative, they realize there are better options out there.
Michelob was discontinued in 2006 except for a limited run in 2020. Michelob Ultra and Amber Bock are the only ones made now I think, and Michelob Ultra is horrid crap. It's completely undrinkable swill that they've managed to sell a bunch of to fat housewives who think it'll make them skinny.
It's not like AB makes anything that isn't easily replaceable. Some companies can get by with stupid stunts like this and still come out OK because they have a market niche that isn't easily filled. There are dozens of mediocre light lagers on the market that can easily take the place of Bud Light and no one will bat an eye though. When it's 100 degrees out on the 4th of July and you're on the lake one light beer will make you piss as well as another, as long as they're cold no one can really tell one from another. There's no reason for anyone to pick the one that makes you think of some fag in a dress rolling around in a bathtub showing his deep throating skills.
AB has some of the higher end craft type beers that hubby *USED TO* drink. Think Kona and Shock Top. No more. We have totally stopped purchasing anything that AB-InBev owns, which is a long list.
As another FReeper recently said, this isn’t a boycott. It’s more akin to a divorce. Not a friendly one either.
I can’t remember if it was the 80’s or early 90’s but Stroh’s used to beat Budweiser like a drum at taste tests at every major city. Only problem was Budweiser had the marketing and Stroh’s never could capitalize on their taste test wins.
