Yes, but there have always been actresses (and actors) who have been average looking or below-average looking. I was watching “Dennis the Menace” this morning. Mary Wickes played the man-hungry neighbor. I have liked Mary Wickes in everything I have seen her in. But there are no glamour girl photos of Mary Wickes, for good reason, and Mary Wickes would be the first person to understand why.
