Without unrestricted immigration, nations like the United States cannot survive unless women have about 2.1 children each (the .1 reflects women who do not have children). The bad news is that the U.S. is falling short in reproducing itself. Occasional exceptions such as the Baby Boom aside, U.S. fertility rates have dropped over the last two centuries and show no sign of rising to the 2.1 replacement level. We are currently at 1.6.
The baby shortfall has huge consequences beyond potentially filling the nation with immigrants. An aging population brings higher healthcare costs, budgets devoured by pensions, shrinking tax bases, labor shortages, empty schools and universities, and a stagnant economy.
Moreover, Africa aside, depopulation is worldwide and, apparently unfixable. Countries as diverse as Japan and Russia have tried the “obvious” solutions such as free childcare and subsidies, but to no avail. Scandinavian countries offer lavish child-friendly policies but likewise fail to move the needle. Between 2006 and 2021, South Korea spent $200 billion for maternity leave, paid childcare, and similar pro-natal measures, but the fertility rate dropped from 1.1 to .81.
This should be a major political issue regardless of one’s ideology. The Left surely needs a healthy economy to finance its welfare state while businesses depend on factory and service workers. Nobody wants a shrinking workforce whose principal responsibility is to fund a growing geriatric population.
Our fertility problems acknowledged, what is being done to encourage more children? Where are educators in this crisis who might help shape a pro-child culture? Schools and the media are certainly relevant. Recall the popular Dick and Jane elementary school reading books of the 1950s featuring an idyllic family or family-friendly TV-sitcoms from that era.
Amazingly, much of our education establishment is pushing youngsters away from family life

In a sense, at least some educators in America are promoting this national suicide that masquerades as freedom to choose among multiple pleasurable sex options. Millions of today’s youngsters now learn that procreative sex is just one of many, many options and unlike past sage advice of “be careful, use protection,” today’s message is: avoid heterosexual sex altogether, but if you must, choose techniques that will not produce children.
The world’s governments with their spending are making having children too damned expensive.
The latest iterations of this country’s younger generations are into themselves more than anyone else. Me, Me, Me, Me, Me. That’s them.
the lgbt crowd is doing their part
or not
See? Brandon's policies are helping!
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving species. Buh-bye and good riddance.
That was my thought as well. Could be a coincidence, all this transsexualism/homosexuality push by the government in general, and the Left in particular.
But probably not.
And it’s a good thing because so many kids died it required large families to maintain a familial blood line, or lineage.
We’re doing so much better keeping ‘em alive we are starting to poison them with ‘vaccinations’ to keep their numbers down. /s
The nation won’t exist with unrestricted immigration either.
It’s the logical end product of the death cult of feminism. You keep pounding it into the minds of young women for generation after generation that they have more important things to be doing than being mothers and raising children, and eventually you don’t *have* a next generation.
If the Roe v Wade decision was the crown jewel of feminism, then yes, feminism was a suicidal death cult, no different from Heaven’s Gate, only slower and more widespread.
So all those Latinos males coming over the border are going to reproduce asexually?
How do things change?
Critical numbers of young women are into building careers and put off the idea of family life, having children until later in life.
Those who do eventually have children, will have fewer children in their lives than previous generations have had.
Critical numbers of both men and women, are not interested in marriage and family life, for various reasons.
Some of women’s peak fertility years, in her late teens and 20s, are the same years that women are going to school and building careers, and actively avoid having children for that reason.
So women can approach the decade of their 30s, and at that point, want to start a family. Many will run out of time to have children before father time catches up with them.
Then there is the whole issue of women trying to find a good man in the first place, which is also a factor here. Many men really don’t want to get married nowadays.
Children aren’t too expensive. New trucks, suburban houses, vacations and two income families however are.
Hard to make babies when half the women chop off their hair, dye what is left blue and kill every baby they somehow still manange to conceive while still hating men, and half the males are doing each other in the poophole or prancing around like Mulvaney.
True... they may not have kids, but they have some great selfies at Machu Pichu and a lot of selfies of them saving Africa with a non-profit that summer.
“It’s the logical end product of the death cult of feminism.”
It could be a Darwinian thing. Societies that celebrate and support the bearing and rearing of children tend to survive, and those that don’t, don’t.
This guy is a moron if he actually believes that the crap floating across the RIO GRANDE is going to save America because females in this country have been testosteroned and prefer to play little boys sports games and shack up with other females. Having children does not fit in with the Millie and Zero lifestyle. Me, Me, Me, Me, Me.
BINGO. Selfies are their way of saying, LOOK AT ME!!! Me, Me, Me!
