America First Legal has launched a government-wide investigation into Microsoft’s apparent prioritizing hiring H-1B Visa holders over American workers.

The legal organization has fired off Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the Department of Labor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of State, and the Department of Justice.

According to AFL, “the government and the private sector continue to put the American people last to propel their open borders agenda – accountability is long overdue. America First Legal is determined to expose any government involvement in this anti-American hiring scheme.”

If someone has reached their breaking point and you're done and ready to get off of big tech, you let me know. I'll give you as much time as I have to help you completely move.

I'd be honored to play a part in the demise of these tech companies, to what little involvement I can have. The more who stop using their junk, the better.

There’s a big high tech/academic/research company in my suburban town...consisting of two big, recently built office buildings. Nearby there’s also a collection of four apartment/condo complexes. All four of those complexes are heavily populated by Indians. It ain’t hard to imagine why those Indians are there.

I have always disliked working with any type of programmer from india. I know this is generalization. Most of the time, they are indeed quite proficient at the base mechanics, and doing the same thing over and over, but overall seem to not posses the imagination to design new things as similar to what could be called an art form. The best analogy I can come up with is you can probably have the greatest mechanic on earth fix any problem with any car, but that sane dude could not sit down and design one from scratch

The list of companies that need investigation has no end. Hopefully, Microsoft is the first step.

Anyone want to chime in about how using Linux instead of Windoze is "socialist" or "un-American"?

(crickets ...)

(Yeah, I know lots of tech companies do this crap. I've watched whole departments turned over to H1-Bs. Doesn't make it right ...)

Of course, Loonix is socialist.
That socialism, in the form of commoditized software, hastened extortion of Tech jobs to the shithole.

In reality they all are. So then you have to boil it down to the lowest common denominator.

Are you going to give them your money? Or are you going to use the free and open source variety.

Unless you’re a luddite, you’ve already made your choice and you’re going to pick one. Now we’re just re-arranging the deck chairs on the titanic.

(I’m a Linux user BTW, no way I’ll financially support the corruption at Microsoft)

My comment regarding commoditization & offshoring came from a Tech product manager. At the time, she was talking about Java commoditizing development jobs.

The same commoditization applies to Linux.

I’m replying from a Mac. I prefer Apple’s implementation over today’s desktop Linux.

I wish HP had released OpenVMS as an alternative to Linux.

If you assume Nadella’s real job is to relocate work to India, then it all makes sense.

commoditized software

That's an inevitable development for things like operating systems which have common uses and well-understood requirements.

extortion of Tech jobs to the shithole

Eliminating the oligopoly on software development by a few very large companies, making marketplace entrance easy, causes the "extortion of Tech jobs"? I don't think so, rather the opposite.

At the time, she was talking about Java commoditizing development jobs.

As opposed to what? Proprietary languages? I'm currently working on re-architecting a big system in Java. It was originally written (mostly) in Visual Basic 6. Microsoft spent ten years telling everyone to write every application in VB6. Then they brought out VB.NET, which had significant incompatibilities and was not at all a drop-in replacement, and retired VB6. Thanks, M$ ! Now my company has a major product which requires development tools which haven't been updated in almost 10 years.

You can make good decisions for your business, or you can listen to Microsoft and make good decisions for Microsoft's business. Your choice!
