The masses are good at lying about what they like in polls, but show their actual “taste” in the entertainment they consume.

Classic error; past performance does not guarantee future results; it is easier to tolerate a flawed incumbent than rehire a problem; once a company lets go of someone, for whatever reason, the past problems they tolerated are accentuated. It is unlikely an incumbent who lost can come back at his age; not impossible but unlikely, and he is not behaving like David, but rather more like Saul.
Trump is unlikeable except to those who idolize him.
