Utter balderdash! Melatonin is produced naturally in all human beings. It controls the body's wake and sleep cycles. It promotes sleep at night. During the day it interacts with the mitochondria of your cells to convert digested products into energy.
The body's production of natural melatonin tends to decrease with age. I think commercial melatonin is derived from cows; melatonin levels can be increased by eating banana, pineapple and oranges.
