I’m going to disagree with the end result of the analysis @Kash makes here, and I’ll explain why.
Was there a point in the last 4 years where did a careful assessment, and went “Wow, even if I indict these top former FBI/DOJ/Clinton campaign people, am I gonna be able to work with the **current** FBI/DOJ/Court system to get convictions?”
What if, based on his investigations since 2017, he had to honestly answer that question by saying “No.” ?
He knew he would NOT get any convictions?
Having already devoted more than 4 years to this investigation of RussiaGate, and realizing that if he dropped a dozen indictments or more of top former DOJ/FBI/Clinton campaign persons, he would be locking himself into another long 4-5 years of a series of trials in which he would be adding to his 0-2 trial record by taking L after L after L as he ran out the string...futilely beating his head against the wall of that corrupt DOJ for the next half decade.
What if he said “Screw that!” ?
He then demonstrates that on two of the most **easily provable** cases he would face, 2 simple false statement cases where the false statements were amply and extensively documented, he could not get a conviction of either Sussmann or Danchenko.
Sussmann’s own admitted text message made that trial an open and shut one. And it would have been. IN AN HONEST JUSTICE SYSTEM.
Which pretty much everybody admits at this point that we do not have. At least not at the federal level.
The FBI was chock full of political partisans who, having been tipped off months in advance that these hoaxes were coming soon, knowingly accepted them when they arrived.
Yes, Durham **proved** this.
Comey can’t say he didn’t know. He was briefed by Brennan.
Strzok can’t say he didn’t know. He too, was briefed by Brennan.
The unwitting ‘hero’ of this whole thing that laid bare the culpability of the Obama WH, DOJ & FBI, if you wanna call him that, is this ugly pr***.

No top member of the Obama White House, the US State Dept., the FBI or the CIA could make any sort of claim that they were unaware that Hillary Clinton had approved a dirty tricks plan to vilify the Donald Trump campaign with a fake series of Russia collusion hoaxes.
Brennan’s own handwritten notes demonstrate that THEY ALL KNEW and they all KNOWINGLY took the Alfa Bank & Steele Dossier hoaxes from Clinton’s operatives & launched investigations with those hoaxes ANYWAY.
This would include showing evidence at trial & in his final report clearly demonstrating & establishing that EVERY TOP OFFICIAL in the Obama administration had been TIPPED OFF WELL IN ADVANCE about what Durham calls “The Clinton Plan.”
Durham makes it a point to quite deliberately strip away any plausible deniability that

Now, Brennan wasn’t **TRYING** to do the right thing. He only **inadvertently** robbed all these corrupt gov’t gangsters of their plausible deniability.
What he was really attempting to accomplish was to get the FBI to get up off its fat ass and launch a counterintelligence investigation to find out WHO THE RUSSIAN MOLE WAS that had penetrated the very tippy-top of the Clinton campaign.
See, Hillary was gonna win in 2016. She was going to the WH.

When he lied awake at night waiting to fall asleep, John Brennan fretted about a coming 4 year nightmare in which every single move of the Clinton presidency was artfully countered by the Russians because of the key inside baseball info they’d be getting from their spy in the Clinton White House.
It was VERY VERY IMPORTANT to John Brennan to plug that damn leak.
And yet try as he might, he could not get James Comey, Peter Strzok or Andrew McCabe to take any action & open a CI investigation.
What if Durham decided that the BEST he do with the hand he was dealt was to FULLY EXPOSE exactly how this ‘joint venture’ between the Clinton campaign, Fusion GPS, Perkins Coie, Georgia Tech, Neustar, etc. came about to target the rival Trump campaign for federal counterintelligence & criminal investigations based on hoaxes?
Durham proved beyond a doubt which 2016 campaign it was that had the Russia problem. It wasn’t Trump’s.
The part of the country that has had this fact deliberately hidden from it for 7 yrs now is suddenly discovering this for the 1st time.

About the FBI people at the very top knowing all about The Clinton Dirty Trick Plan well in advance of the Steele Dossier being given to the agency.
