Backwoods folks don’t take sh!t from anyone.

Rural folks are used to being ignored and forgotten until election time which loosely translates into independent thinkers with good instincts and survival abilities.

Can they be fooled? Yes, but you’ll rue the day you tried. And when the world goes to hell, guess who’s gonna be at the top of the survival pyramid…..

Exactly right! If you are local and rural, they are open and friendly. They don’t hold back. You might fool them, once. They’ll never forget it. They don’t care much for people that think they are smarter than they really are.

This restaurant was near the lake but rarely found by outsiders. Three people came in together. They were talking loud enough for everybody to hear them and bragging on themselves. They wanted breakfast at 11:30. That’s lunch to us. The locals never talk louder than what it takes for the people at their table to hear them and this group could be heard in the next room.

I looked over at the cook. She was scowling at them. When she saw me look, she rolled her eyes. I had to laugh.

When we left, I checked tags. Yep, blue/purple state not from around here.
