THE BEATLES: Jane Asher dumped Paul McCartney live on TV while he was watching at home with friends. How did Paul end up with the girl all the Beatles fancied and why did it go wrong? Why did Jane Asher end the relationship and who is her famous husband now?
On July 21, 1968, popular young actress and model Jane went on the hugely popular BBC chat show Dee Time. The early evening light entertainment series attracted up to 18 million viewers. Jane was well-known in her own right as well as being the girlfriend of one of the most famous men in the world, so when she told host Simon Dee that her five-year relationship with Paul was over, it created a huge stir. Jane cryptically said: "I haven’t broken it off, but it’s finished." Had Paul's latest blatant infidelity been the last straw

Well it looks like Linda Eastman swooped in and took Paul.
Mods pull if you wish.

Well I for one just adored Jane Asher. I saw her play Juliet in Romeo and Juliet in NYC. I was very young but my father took me to it. Wonderful memory.

Hard to argue Linda and Paul had one of the most successful celebrity marriages, accordingly to Paul, they never spent a single night apart, for the rest of Linda’s life.

Jane’s brother, Peter Asher, was part of Peter and Gordon, who scored a hit in 1964 with Lennon and McCartney’s “A World Without Love”.

They weren’t as bad as the Monkees or most big American rock groups, in how they used groupies.

Thanks...I didn’t know that connection between Peter and Gordon and the Beatles. P&G had some really good songs. I’d completely forgotten about them.

You can see the still lovely Jane Asher in the 2007 dark comedy, Death At A Funeral. She was 61 in 2007 and looked 40-ish.
The film can easily be found online for free.
Jane’s father, Richard Asher, was a prominent endocrinologist who studied and named Munchausen Syndrome. He committed suicide at the family’s home where Paul McCartney had lived with Jane.

Gator — Peter Asher is still making the rounds. Right now he is touring with Alvin Lee ( or Albert). He tells the story of how he got that song from Paul, who was dating his sister at the time. Paul would sometimes spent the night at the Asher house and he Paul became friends. Peter needed a song and Paul was working on that one. But, John did not like it. And the rest is history.
He has other great stories as well. Go see him if you can.

Try to go a day without hearing or reading something about them. It is a very difficult thing to do.

Paul is 2 things
1. A musical genius, and
2. A narcissistic ego maniac
2 almost negates 1 in my book.

What the article does NOT mention is that when Paul was watching the TV live, Frances Schwartz was WITH him! How shocked could he have been?

Oh, my goodness. I didn't know Pete Best was a FReeper. How ya doin', Pete ? LOL! That is funnier than, hell
Just for the historical record, Pete's mother did let them use the basement of her club to practice and John, Paul and George, hated him because he was the best looking, and the girls flocked to "The Cavern Club" to see him, but he was a bad drummer, and replaced by Ringo.
