The problem with motorcycles is no protection from so many idiot drivers no matter how defensively you ride.
Wrong. An experience, skilled rider can significantly reduce their risks by using defensive skills. Simple thing like slowing down and covering the brakes on approach to intersections, cross streets, or when cars in the left turn bays ready to left turn in front of you, looking both ways even when the light is green etc, etc.
