Michael Jordan's enormous house in Chicago is still on the market after 10 years.
Jordan has tried to sweeten the pot by cutting the price nearly in half and throwing in a complete set of Air Jordans with the purchase of the house. And yet, it remains unsold and he pays more than $100,000 in annual property taxes.
The house was originally listed for $29 million and has every bell and whistle you can think of. Some "over-improvements" and the house's location are making it hard to sell the property.

No view. It shows just because you have money does mean you have good taste.
The problem is that it's in the middle of nowhere and the land isn't worth that much. Michael Jordan wants the house to be included. But if you are going to buy the property, you want the land, you would spend a fortune in tearing down the house.
That’s how it often works at that income level. Those who can afford to spend $30 million on a house will often buy the house for the land and then spend $50 million tearing down the house and building a replacement that they prefer.
Two things come to mind.
Location, Location, Location.
And don’t overbuild for your neighborhood.
In the Seattle area I’ve done jobs at beautiful homes built in the 1970’s on large waterfront lots. These beautiful homes get torn down. Sometimes a nice house gets built, but often it is something like Jordan’s with no character (IMHO).
I agree his house isn’t interesting to look at. It’s basically a residential office building. The only thing I can say is that he built it probably before he knew himself, just a kid with a ton of cash burning his pockets and he probably allowed the architect to make decisions for him.
It’s location, location, location.
That is some really crappy real estate photography. Jordan should fire his agents and get new ones over that issue alone.
At least he has the sense to have people live there and take care of it. Every so often I watch youtubers that explore abandoned houses. Most of them are old and small, but every so often there will be a huge mansion that isn’t that old.
I saw one that used to be John Gotti’s mansion. Looks like people were trying to work on it, and lots of stuff remains in the home.

This has been some years ago. I don’t remember all the details, but there was a house built in a higher end north west suburb of Chicago. There was some sort of dispute with the city or the builders and the people never moved in. It took around 8 years for the roof to start caving in.
From the article...
One problem is that Jordan may feel his celebrity status adds value to the house, but, according to Stephen Shapiro of the Westside Agency, people do not pay more for a house just because somebody famous owned it.
“But you know who tends to think a property is worth more because a celebrity lived there?” Shapiro said. “The celebrity trying to sell it.”
This house has the same architecture problem as modern office buildings are churches. It has no humnan element. It is sterile and cold both inside and outside. This is the problem with artists today compared to practically all of human history.
I can't imagine the wealth Jordan has accumulated just for playing basketball......
One shot makes it llok like a huge barn.

It is obvious to me why the house doesn’t sell. Its design is a disaster - cold, angular, and clumsy appearing.
I couldn’t finish the article - too many sad thoughts of the oppression endured. I hope reparations will help.
The “library” appears to have no actual books - but a pull down TV screen
It might be a giant Ipad.
56,000 square foot house .. insanity.
The place seems unfinished. Tennis Court has no net, ok you probably take it down for the winter. But there aren’t even poles to hang the net.
You can pay that much in NYS on a house worth far less...
Case in point...
