I am currently at home on a ventilator. It is set to force feed a constant volume of air plus O2. It varies the prellure with a complex algorythm to do this. It does not use more pressure than naecssary to keep my airways open, Without it, my sleep apnea would continue to be killing me. Look up AVAP technology to see how ventilators function in the present — not during the pandemic.

Appreciate the personal insights.

Ventilators definitely have a flow function value — not disputing that. I hope you’re making progress.

As we progress through our seasoned mortality, the ironic necessity of patience cannot be ignored. Meanwhile, nothing can happen too quickly for our children/grandchildren. lol

God bless, FRiend

APAP is not a ventilator. It does not deliver an O2 concentration higher than room air. The pressures it delivers are nowhere near those of a ventilator. APAP is useful for the treatment of sleep apnea. It is not a treatment for advanced ARDS with severe hypoxemia which requires mechanical ventilation - with a ventilator
